Which country did you get the knife from? In America, out of the country, they don't take anything out of your bags unless is violates regulations, and any knife wont. Trust me, I transported a knife, a ton of rifle casings, and a live .50 caliber cartridge across 5 states in a plane, there was no hassle.
Majorca... I can understand in the US you could bring/take stuff like that x3 I mean, Spain in general don't seem to care... I'm only 19, and they didn't ID me or anything when I went to the counter and said I wanted a knife out of their display case.

Yeah, generally stores that aren't chain stores or "city" stores will pretty much let any person look and buy their knives. I do it a lot, and I've bought a machete(14") and they didn't care. Not even the security guards cared. As for airport security, they have no reason to search your bag if you don't act suspicious. They also just run it underneath a very sophisticated X-ray device, and if there's nothing really suspicious looking items in there(such as the knife, which folded just looks like a bar of metal) will not arouse any suspicions. Or, you could have just gotten lucky. And, since it was probably your bag that went underneath the plane(assuming), they probably just give it a really quick look over, and move on. There's a bunch of stores here which you can buy a knife underage(even in malls and what not).
